Hi,

my name is Aileen, I am 54 and I live with my family in a tiny village in the north of Germany. We would like to travel much more to meet more people and to widen our son‘s horizon but due to cancer and CFS/ME it is not that easy.

Although we finally started again, traveling calmer, slower and went to Ireland in April 2025, a country that won our heart or more precisely its people were the ones to win our hearts. 🫶🏽 Plus a short trip to Lithuania in July 2025 and a longer one to Finland in October. 🤭 Well, we have started again, I guess 😁.

This summer it was a split trip to Estonia and Finland. Well, Finland, it got me in October, I did not want to leave again this summer, one day I will hopefully live there being a part of the Finnish community. 🤞

A nice Dutch chap from postcrossing told me about this site and here I am. Thank you, Marcel 😊.

I enjoy very much getting the same addresses more than once, I have to admit. 😊 Some do already feel a bit like family.

I know that the people are not their government, that includes all the people in autocratic states. I mean, I am from Germany, with our past, who am I to throw the first stone?

I am against all forms of racism and antisemitism, I stand with Ukraine 🇺🇦, I am LGBTQ friendly.

The last point is the reason that I don’t want anything Harry Potter related, please. I loved the books, being a former teacher from a boarding school myself, but the way the author is behaving is an absolute no-go to me. So all the books went to a library as I did not have the heart to throw them away.

Hobbies: Taking photos, writing cards and letters and reading

Languages: English and German, basic French and bits of Finnish, I started learning it in 09/25 and Swedish, started learning it in 07/26.
