My name is Alison.

I am a Jersey girl (New Jersey, USA), visually impaired, and a compulsive letter writer since 2014, when a sympathetic tutor encouraged me to join our school's Pen Pal Club and write my first letter. To everyone's surprise, I discovered I could do it. Before long, I was making connections with new friends in Italy, Germany, Cuba, Thailand, Japan, the Netherlands, and Ukraine.

On New Year's Eve 2018, my tutor and I signed up for Postcrossing. The postcards became especially important for me during the first ten months of the pandemic. Beginning in March 2020, I was isolated at home and those cards became a lifeline, my only contact with the outside world.

Besides letter writing, I also enjoy listening to classical music, reading classic novels, collecting vintage cards & photographs, walks in the forest, swimming, and gardening.

*On account of my disability I depend on my tutors, Mary & John, for help handling the mail. You may see one of their return address labels on an envelope from me.

Postcard desires:

Larger cards, bright colors, movie stars (especially Golden Age), nautical themes, beaches, maps, anything old.

Hobbies: Reading (esp. history, 19th century novels), collecting old things, listening to classical music, walks in the forest, and gardening.
